2024 Eden Valley Pinot Noir
 
We’ve made Pinot Noir from Robyn & Tony’s wonderful Marden Springs Vineyard in Eden Valley every year since 2021. The vineyard is planted solely to Pinot Noir, and with Tony working as an Organic Certifier, the place is absolutely humming.
 
We typically ferment Pinot Noir whole bunch. But for 2024 we gave our little Gumtree de-stemmer a run — so this vintage sits at around 30% whole bunch. The spontaneous ferment was gently hand-plunged for about two weeks before being basket pressed and put to a seasoned French oak barrique for 14 months. Then racked off solids and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
 
Again, just one barrique — 282 bottles.
 
It’s a structured, fairly ballsy Pinot: spice and savoury fruit leading the way. It’ll cellar well for several years. And with a good lick of air is drinking very nicely already.
